A Fundraiser

Bumping this post… because it’s important!

My blog-friend Leah just posted a fundraiser on her adoption blog. This spring they are bringing home their third adopted son from Serbia, which will make them the parents of four children with Down Syndrome!

Leah’s adoption is close to my heart for a number of reasons, one of them is that she is adopting from Serbia. One of my kids’ birth mother is from Subotica, and my extended family lived around Novy Sad in the late 19th, early 20th century. I have had the opportunity to visit a Serbian orphanage and a few foster homes a few years ago, and those children stole a piece of my heart.

Serbia forbids photolistings, and enforces this, so children get a lot less exposure, because there are no cute pictures for adoption businesses to draw people to the country. Yet, there are children there in need just as much as in Ukraine and Bulgaria.

To help one less child to be stuck in an orphanage in Serbia, please visit this post, and consider participating in this fundraiser. The fundraising is done through Project Hopeful, and donations are tax deductible. You can also win several items, including a very beautiful and unique art piece.
