And December 22, 2012 Rolled Around

Because I haven’t really seen any of my friends update about how they managed to survive the end of the world, I decided to share my tricks.

You see, I’m an experienced survivour. I survived Y2K, the Hale-Bopp comet, and the Rapture. Twice. Of course it all meant careful preparations and planning. As part of said preparations, I looked at a lot of memes and funny pictures online about the end of the world, and on December 19 I watched “The Day After Tomorrow”. From it I learnt that books are my best chance for survival in case the world ends in ice, so I immediately downloaded 14 books to my e-book reader. Then I watched “2012”, which was a pretty bad movie, but at least it was incredibly long. From that I learnt that any science fiction writer can become a major force in post-apocalyptic culture if at least one person brings his book along to the arks. So I better get writing.

To make sure I wouldn’t miss the end of the world, which was supposed to happen at 1:12 p.m. local time, I set my alarm on my phone with REM’s It’s The End of the World.

Then I waited.

And the world didn’t end.

Wow. Those are, far and away, the best and certainly most extensive preparations I’ve seen in the now (almost) post-apocalyptic world. I feel safer already knowing you are working on a book now. Really, I think I only need to add two words: John Cusack.

I’ve liked some of the end-of-the-world type movies…and I love some like The Road, Book of Eli, Armageddon, etc. And of course I’m waiting for the zombie apocalypse…I AM ready for that!!! Or, at least, for The Walking Dead to return next season!!! 🙂
