Songs about some of my thoughts

logo

This first song was linked by Jill.

Since it’s in English, I won’t include the lyrics, but I just hav eto share my favourite lines:

So I will raise my voice – even when I am afraid
I will raise my voice – I will not be ashamed
I will raise my voice – for it may be the spark
I will raise my voice – that will light up the dark

The other song was written by a young man, a soldier in ISrael, who died at age 21. The song was recorded by Harel Skaat as part of a project. The song’s titled “Ani”, meaning “I”.

I. I.

Stand in front of the mirror, and say here I am.
Look at this strange self straight in the eyes.
Who’s there?
Appeared in front of us and disappeared?
Who is he really?
Who is he really?

I want to float in my power to see everything from above
Understand what humans are
Oh oh oh oh ….

I. I.
Too bad I was born a man.
I can see, think, feel, smell
But it’s not enough for me …
I want to
Hover over people
Incredible silence. Incredible silence.

I want to float in my power to see everything from above
Understand what humans are
Oh oh oh oh ….

All my life I go to the movies,
Fuck, work, eat and sleep
And cry and laugh,
Get mad, get married and have children, do the same thing.

I want to float in my power to see everything from above
Understand what humans are
Oh oh oh oh ….

Both of tehse songs talk to me today. As I’m sitting at the open window, enjoying the pre-rain breeze, I am listening to these songs over and over again. This is my morning.

Lovely, and so like you. 🙂 I do hope you let your voice continue to light up the dark.

Thank you! And thank you for the link to the song! It really does say what I can’t say as eloquently as the song does.

  2. Bozót says:

Both are beautiful thoughts and music too!

These two songs have been added to my playlist recently, and for som reason I think they pop up often–or I just keep noticing them now!
