Positive Posts 2012

December 1 is World AIDS Day every year. There was a time, when HIV and AIDS awareness were a popular thing. The red ribbons were worn everywhere from the Oscar Gala to the local events, raising awareness. Then time has passed, and other causes have gained the celebrity support that was once poured into HIV and AIDS awareness as better medications became available and people with HIV started to live longer, healthier lives.

Yet HIV and AIDS are still a world wide problem. The face of the disease is changing, it’s no longer “just” the gay plague, yet many people still associate it with male homosexual behaviour. Living with HIV and AIDS is still stigmatizing and there are many, many misconceptions about life with HIV out there.

Because of this, I invite you to join me in posting for World AIDS Day. Let’s share our knowledge, experiences and stories. Let’s educate the world. Let’s show the world the real story of HIV and AIDS.

If you post related to HIV and AIDS between now and December 3, 2012, please add a link to your post to the below list so others can easily find your post. This post will be bumped to the top of my page to keep it visible. If you post more than once on this topic in the next week, you are welcome to post all your links!

Please also link back to this post in your post, so people can find more experiences, more posts. Wow. Lots of “posts” in that sentence!

After you write your post(s), please add the URL to your post, not your whole blog.

Really cool, Hevel! I thought about doing a post for this, but I really don’t have any direct information or experience with persons with HIV.
